A stunning venue, a super fun and relaxed couple, lots of cute kids and great weather. What more could you want for a fabulous wedding day! Helen and John recently got married at the Woodlands boutique hotel on the outskirts of Leeds. It’s a beautiful, characterful venue with landscaped gardens and lovely contemporary interiors. In the morning I met Helen at her sister’s home in Huddersfield where she and the bridesmaids were getting ready. I was greeted with a nice cup of tea and a room full of bridesmaids, hairdressers and makeup artists mulling about preparing for the big day.
On arriving at Woodlands I came across John and the groomsmen outside having a couple of beers. John was in great spirits and excited to finally get married to Helen after previously postponing the wedding two times because of starting a family. I do love a wedding with lots of cute kids in the bridal party and this one was perfect with six children including Helen and John’s two girls; Charlotte and baby Elizabeth.
The pageboys carried the rings into the ceremony and the flower girls scattered petals on the way up the aisle. Baby Elizabeth was carried in much to her annoyance by one of the bridesmaids and finally Helen walked down the aisle with her brother in law. I loved how Elizabeth was right up at the front being held in turns by John and Helen throughout the ceremony. There were a few tears but she did seem quite fascinated with her surroundings and got thoroughly involved at the exchange of rings stage.
After the ceremony the guests had a lovely reception outside in the gardens, which also provided a great backdrop for some couple portraits with John and Helen. It was then back into the hotel for the wedding breakfast and the speeches went really well and were very heartfelt. I was particularly impressed with the dancing at this wedding as there was some serious moves on the dance floor by not only the couple but also the guests and bridal party.
A huge congratulations to Helen and John, Mr & Mrs Kent. I thoroughly enjoyed photographing your day, your wedding had such a lovely, friendly, warm atmosphere. I wish you all the best for your continued life together.
