Two Stunning York Wedding Venues
We had a stunning day for some fabulous Principal York wedding photography. We were totally spoilt with two stunning venues for this wedding. Katie and Jamie tied the knot at The Hospitium, a 14th century building with medieval rooms, overlooking the ruins of St Marys Abbey, in the stunning museum gardens. They then had their reception at The Principal just down the road. This landmark York hotel was built in 1878 with striking victorian architecture and landscaped gardens.
I met Katie and the girls in the morning at The Principal for the bridal preparations and arrived to find lots of very friendly family and friends having a great time getting ready for the big day. When ready, Katie had lots of lovely presents to hand out to the girls, much to their delight. Then the bride descended the stunning grand staircase with her Dad to the car for the short drive to the Museum Gardens. Meanwhile, Jamie and the groomsmen were also at the Principal attaching buttonholes, having a couple of beers and then walking through the York streets to the ceremony location.
Ceremony at the Hospitium York
At the Hospitium Jamie waited for Katie’s arrival. She looked absolutely stunning walking down the aisle with her dad, causing Jamie to have a bit of a tear in his eye! The ceremony went really well with some emotional moments and also a few laughs all around. The couple walked out to much applause and the guests enjoyed showering them with confetti outside the front door. After lots of congratulations and a few canapés we took a stroll around the gardens , dodging the Saturday crowds, for some couple portraits.
Wedding Reception at The Principal
Soon it was time for the reception so the couple and the guests all walked the short walk through the streets of York to the Principal. Because this venue is so stunning, Jamie and Katie wanted a few extra portraits, so before dinner we took a few shots utilising the striking architecture, grand staircase and chandeliers. Next, Katie and Jamie made their grand entrance to the wedding breakfast room to much applause and the speeches got underway. All the speeches went really well and once dinner was over the guests noticed an incredible rainbow over the hotel. An opportunity not to be missed and we just had a moment to capture the couple on the terrace under the rainbow.
The day ended with the cutting of the cake and a fabulous first dance. We left as the guests piled onto the dance floor to rock the night away! Congratulations to Katie and Jamie on such a fabulous day and thank you for choosing me as your Principal Hotel wedding photographer. For further information please see the bottom of the post.
