This was a fabulous wedding at the Chevin Country Park Hotel with a lovely, relaxed and super fun couple Sherrie and Al. Both the ceremony and reception took place at the Chevin Country Park Hotel. This is an alpine style lodge with several wooden cabins set within dense woodland and lakes. It’s a stone’s throw from The Chevin, a ridge on the south side of Wharfedale with stunning views over Otley.

I arrived to meet Sherrie and the girls mulling about in their cosy cabin and getting ready with hair and makeup. Everyone was in great spirits and excited for Sherrie’s big day. Once prepped and ready to go Sherrie’s Dad joined the girls at the cabin to escort them all to the main lodge. Sherrie looked absolutely stunning in her Enzoani Wedding dress and cute sparkly pumps, which were perfect for the rustic woodland environment.

In the meantime Al was waiting in the main lodge ceremony room for his bride to be with a huge smile on his face, you could just tell he was really looking forward to seeing Sherrie walk down the aisle. The room was quite unique being ceiling to floor with wooden beams and the couple had dressed it with candles, roses and mosses which gave a lovely warm rustic feel. The ceremony went without a hitch and included two lovely readings which meant a great deal to the couple. I’ve included the poem about Sherrie and Al by Al’s auntie Leslie at the bottom of the post.

We were really lucky throughout the day with the weather. It kept wanting to rain but we only got a very light drizzle now and then and the sun came out for quite a while. After the ceremony people were able to mull about outside on the deck and have a few canapés, and throw some confetti. It was then time to whisk Sherrie and Al off for a few couple portraits. As the Chevin was so near by we hopped into the car and headed over to Surprise View. Al and Sherrie drove in style in their yellow Morris Traveller, such a cute little car that was loaned to them for the day by their good friend Will. Again the weather was perfect, the sun came out and we had some dark stormy skies that made for some dramatic shots against the landscape.

Soon it was back to the lodge and time for the wedding breakfast and a few speeches. Again the couple had used their styling skills to decorate the room with beautiful rustic flowers, foliage and mosses and the table cards were all labelled with the names of places they had been to on their Canadian trip where Alex had proposed. Also I was so impressed with the wedding cake which is one of the nicest I’ve seen and was actually made by the couples friends Rob and Steph! The speeches went really well and were very heartfelt but also very funny and really got the top table and guests laughing. After dinner it was finally time for the cake cutting and the first dance. Al did a fantastic job of whisking Sherrie around the dancefloor and soon the other guests are up there rocking the night away.

Apparently after we left there was a momentous event that occurred on this wedding. Sherrie’s Sister Sarah who was pregnant, went from being on the dancefloor at 11pm to giving birth in the local hospital at midnight!  Everything went very smoothly and they now have a lovely baby daughter called Annabelle. I must say that was pretty impressive!

It was an absolute pleasure to photograph this beautiful wedding for such a lovely couple. I know Sherrie and Al have just got back from a fabulous honeymoon to California, see a photo from them at the bottom of the post. Thank you for choosing me as your photographer Sherrie and Al and all the best for a wonderful life together.

Kirsty was an excellent choice for our wedding. We got on so well with her and she made us both feel very comfortable in front of the camera. She did such an excellent job on the day, making sure we got all the shots we wanted. A great all round service. Would highly recommend! Thanks Kirsty! X
